Considered Communications for Creative Practices

All photography by Emma Croman
Common Thread grew out of a longstanding interest in design, heritage and the stories held in objects, materials and places.
I grew up around antiques and creative people, where objects were rarely just objects. They carried memory, skill and meaning. That early understanding still shapes the way I look at the creative businesses I work with today.
After working in London for over a decade with a number of respected fashion, interiors and lifestyle businesses, I founded Common Thread in 2013, formerly FISHERS, to offer a more considered approach to communications and creative consultancy.
Authenticity and honesty sit at the centre of the work. Good communication cannot be manufactured from the outside. It has to begin with a proper understanding of what is already there: the values, methods, materials and decisions that give a practice its character.
I work with independent, design-led studios, makers, brands and institutions to help them express their work more clearly. My background spans PR, editorial, styling and creative direction, which means I am able to look at a practice as a whole: its story, identity, imagery, visibility, partnerships and public voice.
The approach is tailored and collaborative. I take time to understand how each client thinks, what they care about and where they want to go, before shaping a strategy that feels useful, accurate and true.
Over the years, I have built strong relationships with editors, stylists and writers across interiors, design, craft and lifestyle. My work is never only about coverage. It is about helping a business become better understood, more confidently expressed and more clearly placed in the wider cultural conversation.
Common Thread is for people and businesses who care about how things are made, how stories are told, and how thoughtful work finds its audience.

"It's been great working with Rachael as she is very well connected and got me some great press. I love the flexible structure to her business and her style of writing which is to the point with just the right amount of creativity, I like the way she writes press releases that are clear and concise. She has a brilliant business structure for small companies who don't have a tons of products to be pushing all the time". - Helen Wilson - Witch & Watchman

It has been such a pleasure working with Rachael. We met at one of her press evening and I instantly knew that she was the right person to represent my brand. She was so knowledgable and passionate about the labels she was showcasing and I feel like she has been the same way with my brand. Rachel has achieved some great press and brand exposure for me and I trust that she will continue to do so. - Malaika Carr CHALK Jewellery
